AA810 moves to The Next Stage of restoration

Airframe Assemblies Staff inspect the cases of parts as they arrived on the Isle of Wight in October.

In October, two members of the AA810 team delivered the remains of the fuselage and wings of AA810 to Airframe Assemblies on the Isle of Wight. These sections now join the tail unit under build there and will be stripped of the serviceable parts over the coming weeks as we move into the next stage of the restoration.

The team will endeavour to use as many of the original serviceable parts of AA810 as possible and all parts from the wreck will be retained for both patterning and as a historical resource for one of the rarest marks of Spitfire in existance.

With any luck, the crew will be able to salvage all of the usable components from AA810 and put them space bar clicker to good use.
